Know More About Express Entry

Express Entry is an online system that help skilled workers to become Canadian permanent residents. Express entry is an electronic system which was introduced on January 01, 2015. Candidates under this category are awarded up to 1200 points under a ranking system in order to determine their eligibility. The Candidate with the highest ranking will receive an invitation to apply. After getting invitation to apply candidate have 60 days to completely provide documents and information required for permanent residence application.

QUALIFYING FOR EXPRESS ENTRY

In order to apply through Express entry, you must be eligible under below three immigration programs managed through Express Entry.

  1. CANADIAN EXPERINCE CLASS 
  2. FEDRAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM 
  3. FEDRAL SKILLED TRADES PROGRA

CANADIAN EXPERINCE CLASS

The CEC category, which came to existence in 2008, require applications to earn their way to permanent residency. This category is for the skilled who have Canadian work experience. That work experience must have been gained in the 3 years before you apply 

Under this category following steps needs to be followed:

  1. The initial steps are to create a profile online. Candidates need to provide all information regarding candidate language ability, work Experience, education details. This profile can remain in the pool for the period of one year.
  2. If you do not currently hold a qualifying job offer you must register with the Canada Job Bank.  Candidates are encouraged to promote themselves to prospective employers in order to increase their chances of being invited to apply.
  3. CEC draws from the candidate pool frequently. If a candidate gets selected, will receive an “invitation to apply “for permanent residence. After getting invitation to apply candidate have 60 days to completely provide documents and information required for permanent residence application.
  • 500 Points: Core Human Capital Factors. This includes age, education, language and Canadian work experience.
  • 100 Points: Skill Transferability which is a combination of foreign qualifications, work experience, education and language ability.
  • 600 Points: A Provincial Nomination certificate
  • 50-200 Points: For arranged Employment.

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM

These are for the candidate who has the highest level of education and/or significant amount of work experience. This work experience could be easily transferred to the Canadian Labour market. Workers with foreign  work experience in skill type O , skill type A , skill type B as per National Occupational Classification (NOC) will meet the criteria, accompany with education, English proficiency, age and other factors.

This program uses a point system in order to assess the eligibility of the Candidates. The point system ranking used in this category is NOT the same as the Comprehensive Ranking System used to rank candidates in Express Entry. In order to create a candidate profile and be assigned a score using the Comprehensive Ranking System, candidates must first qualify for either the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades or Canadian Experience Class. The points for the Federal Skilled Worker Program are a minimum requirement in order to be eligible to participate in Express Entry. In order words, This Program works initially with the Minimum requirement for Skilled work experience, language ability, education. Candidates must meet all the minimum requirements. After candidate meet all the minimum requirement, their application will be then assessed based on:

  1. age, it has maximum of 12 points.
  2. education, it has maximum of 25 points based on highest level of education attained and the total number of years of education.
  3. work experience, it has maximum of 15 points based on full time and part time experience gained by the candidate.
  4. weather you have a valid job offer; it has maximum of 10 points if candidate either have a permanent job offer in Canada. 
  5. English or French language skills, it has maximum of 24+4 points based upon the candidate ability to speak, listen, write and read in either one or both of Canada’s official languages – French or English.
  6. to adaptability it has maximum of 10 points. Candidate may be awarded points if they can show that they, their spouse or common-law partner, or their dependents will adapt easily to life in Canada.  Examples include education in Canada, arranged employment in Canada and family members who are Canadian Permanent Residents or Citizens.

These factors are part of a 100-point grid used to assess eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. You earn points for how well you do in each of the 6 factors. Candidate must obtain 67 points in order to qualify under this program.

FEDERAL SKILLED TRADES PROGRAM 

This category is for skilled trade people who want to immigrate to Canada. Candidates require two year of work experience in a skill trade in the last five years and meet certain minimum language requirements.  This category requires a point system to assess candidates. The point system used to rank candidates under this category is not the same as the for Comprehensive Ranking System used to rank candidates in Express Entry.
